HOW TO MAKE ANIMATED CARDS
with Kelli Anderson, Artist & Paper Engineer
In this interactive, 3-hour workshop, artist & paper engineer Kelli Anderson will show you how fold-based formats like the flexagon and waterfall card can bring content to life through movement and interactivity. You’ll explore the conceptual and mechanical potential of folded paper as a storytelling tool—creating narrative-driven pieces that are engaging, tactile, and unforgettable.
No prior folding experience required—just curiosity and a willingness to experiment.
Participants will learn:
How to create animated cards using flexagon and waterfall formats
Ways to showcase content in surprising, interactive ways
Ideas for client gifts, physical products, and promotional pieces
Techniques for making storytelling more engaging through paper engineering
Materials Needed:
Pencil
Cardstock (my favorite is Neenah Classic Crest 80lb cover weight paper)
Ruler
Scissors (and/or x-acto knife and cutting mat)
Glue (white glue, my favorite is scotch quick-dry glue)
